Knollwood Internet Streaming Radio Station

We began recording our sermons in July of 1983. Since that time, we have had six located preachers. We have also had a very large number of visiting preachers from all over the country. We add new sermons every week. Those sermons are available here on our website. Just click the Sermons tab above. But we have also uploaded many of those sermons to a separate server that plays them in random order as an internet streaming radio station. That station plays our sermons all day, every day.

New Hosting Service and New App

Because of problems with our previous hosting service, we moved our internet streaming radio station to a new hosting service. It has a web browser public player page that looks like the picture on the right. It has the following features:

  1. Default Album Art
  2. The Title of the Sermon
  3. The Name of the Preacher
  4. A Progress Bar showing how much of the sermon has played and how much is left
  5. The Play/Pause Button
  6. A Volume Slider
  7. A Song History Button to show the last five sermons that have played
  8. You can ignore the Playlist button
At times, it may take up to a minute to change this information for a new sermon, but it does change every time. To access the new radio player page, click this link: Knollwood Gospel Truth Lessons. See the instructions below for how you can add this as an app on your phone or tablet.

Multi-Stream App

I found an app in the Google Play Store/Apple App Store that plays our internet streaming radio station and shows the preacher name and sermon title. It is named "TA Stream Player". When you have downloaded the app and run it, press the three dots in the upper-right corner. In the drop-down menu, tap on "New stream". For Stream name, enter "Knollwood Gospel Truth Lessons". For the URL address, enter "https://az11.yesstreaming.net:8350/radio.mp3". This app allows you to enter several of your favorite radio streams as well as ours.

New Main Website and Buffered Radio Player

We also needed to move our main website to a larger server that would allow us to store more sermons. On our old server, I had developed a custom WordPress web page to play our internet streaming radio station. After much work, I was able to get this web page copied over. To try that Radio Player, click this link: radio2.knollwoodchurch.org. I haven't been able to find a WordPress Plug-In that shows the sermon title and preacher name. But the current player does have one advantage. It has a buffer, so you can pause the sermon and pick up where you left off as long as it is less than five minutes. This WordPress player page also has a link back to our Sermon List webpage.

Save to Phone or Tablet

You can follow the instructions below to save our server's public web page as an app or shortcut onto your phone or tablet. Your instructions may vary depending on the brand and model of your phone. When it is loaded,the icon will have two musical notes over a blue hexagon shape. If you have a previous version on your phone, you may want to delete it before loading the new version.

Android Phone/Tablet

For an Android device:

  1. Open the Chrome web browser
  2. In the address bar, type knollwoodchurch.org
  3. Tap on the Streaming tab to open this page
  4. Tap on this link: Knollwood Gospel Truth Lessons
  5. Once the radio player page has loaded, tap the three dots in the upper-right corner of the screen
  6. Scroll down in the popup menu and tap on "Add to Home page"
  7. A box pops up giving you the choice to Install this as an app, or to add a Shortcut that opens in Chrome
    • If you add it as an app, it will have the name Knollwood Gospel Truth Lessons and you will need to manually place it on your home screen
    • If you save it as a Chrome shortcut, it gives you a box where you can change the name and then it automatically places it in the next available slot on your home screen after you tap the Add button
Any time that you want to listen to the radio station, you can just tap on that icon.

The same process works for Firefox for Android. There is a similar process for Opera for Android. The dropdown menu has a selection for "Add to ..." Tap there and then tap "Home screen". I have not tried other browsers.

iPhone/iPad

For an Apple phone/tablet:

  1. Open the Chrome web browser
  2. In the address bar, type knollwoodchurch.org
  3. Tap on the Streaming tab to open this page
  4. Tap on this link: Knollwood Gospel Truth Lessons
  5. Once the radio player page has loaded, tap the middle icon in the bottom menu bar [it looks like a box with an arrow pointing up]
  6. Scroll down in the popup menu and tap on "Add to Home Screen"
  7. If you don't see "Add to Home Screen", scroll to the bottom and tap "Edit Actions". Then tap "+Add to Home Screen."

Final Comments

On any device, you should click the Pause button on the Radio Player before you close out the page so that the radio station stops playing.
