LSD is an acronym for lysergic acid diethylamide, a chemical taken as a hallucinogen and nick named acid. It is a drug that has, especially from the 60s onward, produced devastating results, destroying the well-being of countless souls, and leading them to a far greater spiritual consequence—eternal destruction! LSD can give its users a feeling of being close to nature, supposedly to God. It can also produce horrifying hallucinations. Users may feel a seeming peace and contentment, or overwhelming paranoia. For many, what it ultimately produces is an escape from reality and its consequences. Sadly, such an escape is deceptive, for it is fleeting at best, even in this life. Simply put, LSD is one of Satan’s deadly devices to lead souls down the broad way to destruction (Matthew 7:13,14). Anyone whose conscience is pricked by God’s word regrets his past. It is no coincidence that those under the influence of drugs are often said to be wasted. The end result of illegal-drug use is a wasted life--wasted time, money, talents, bodies, minds, and souls. A drug user who has obeyed the gospel realizes that he wasted his past. Thanks to God’s love and the blood Christ shed on the cross, sinners can be redeemed from such a life. “Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.” (1 Peter 1:18,19) Because of Christ’s sacrifice, my past sins have been cleansed and forgotten (Hebrews 10:15-22). God’s word teaches us some other lessons to be learned from LSD—observe the following: L—stands for LUST.
S—stands for SIN.
D—stands for DEATH.
LSD is such a destructive drug. Yet, it is but one of many devices of our adversary, Satan. It may satisfy the temporal desires of the flesh in this life, but it will eternally destroy a soul in hell. So also is Satan’s blinding: “But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.” (2 Corinthians 4:3,4) Instead of allowing Satan to blind you to the truth, please listen to some better advice from the apostle Peter: “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. Be sober; be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.” (1 Peter 5:6-9) It is too bad that so many are caught up in Satan’s devices, such as LSD, instead of in:
Finally, remember that SIN is the enemy! Satan will use every trick in his book to mislead, deceive, and paint a picture—the pleasure sin brings here is worth the risk to our souls; there’s plenty of time to change our ways. It is nothing but a lie! “But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.” (James 1:14-16) Maybe we just need to do what the slogan says—JUST SAY NO!!!!
