The answer to the above question depends on whether you are prepared. You are the person who must prepare yourself to win souls. Following is a list of some things that are necessary for preparing yourself for this important task:
- Accept Personal Responsibility-No one can do this for you. Each Christian is personally responsible for bringing others to Christ.
- Practice What You Preach-In order to win souls for Christ, you must live what you preach. We are living examples for those about us. Teaching one thing while practicing another is hypocrisy (Matthew 15:7-9).
- Develop Confidence-In Philippians 4:13, Paul told us we can do "all things" through Christ who strengthens us. If we are convinced that this is true, we will say "I can" instead of "I can't." If a person believes he can't lead the lost to Christ, he won't.
- Love People-If we lack love, we will fail at bringing souls to Christ. Jesus taught that we must love our neighbors as ourselves (Mark 12:31).
- Study-If we intend to win souls, we must know God's word. In 2 Timothy 2:15, Paul instructed Timothy to study and rightly divide the word in order to gain God's approval.
- Beware of Satan's Devices-Know your enemy. Luke 8:12 tells us that Satan will steal away the word out of the hearts of those who receive it. God has given us the weapons with which to fight against this (2 Corinthians 10:3,4; Ephesians 6:10-18). Our ignorance of Satan's devices gives him an advantage over us (2 Corinthians 2:11).
